How to port/transfer your current SIM card number to BBB Connect SIM card

Introduction

The objective of this training manual is to provide step-by-step instructions on how to port your current SIM card to a BBB Connect SIM card.

Porting your current SIM card allows you to switch from your current mobile service provider while keeping your BBB Connect SIM card phone number. This manual will guide you through the process step by step.

A BBB Connect SIM card is a small card that is inserted into your mobile phone or device to connect to the MVNO's network and access voice, text, and data services.

Responsible Team

This training manual is intended for BBBSO and Contact Centre Agents who are responsible for assisting Sales Force Members with the activation process of BBB Connect SIM cards.

Process

  1. Section 1: Preparing for Porting
    1. Check Eligibility:
      1. Ensure that your current SIM card is active and not expired.
      2. Have your identification documents (ID/passport) readily available.
      3. Obtain a new SIM card from BBBSO.
      4. Make sure your current SIM card account is in good standing with your current network provider.
    2. Gather Information:
      1. Collect the necessary information about your current mobile service account, including:
        1. Your account number,
        2. Account holder's name,
        3. Account PIN or password.
  2. Section 2: Initiating the Porting Process
    Ensure that you follow all instructions provided by BBBSO and provide accurate information to avoid any delays or complications in the porting process.
    1. Contact BBBSO:
      1. Call BBBSO on 010 442 0222 or send an email to connect@bbb.co.za and follow their instructions for initiating the porting process.
        The BBB Contact Centre Agent will call you to assist.
    2. Provide Information:
      1. During the porting initiation process, you will need to provide the following details:
        1. Your current mobile number,
        2. Account information, and
        3. Identification documents.
  3. Section 3: Verification
    1. Verification Process:
      Wait for the BBBSO to confirm the successful submission of your porting request. This may take a few hours to a few days, depending on the processing time of the BBBSO and your current network provider.
  4. Section 4: Porting Completion
    1. Confirmation:
      Once the porting process is complete, you will receive confirmation from both your previous mobile service provider and BBBSO.
    2. Insert New SIM Card:
      1. Turn off your mobile phone and remove the current SIM card. Insert the new BBB Connect SIM card into your phone.
    3. Activation:
      1. Follow the activation instructions provided by the BBBSO to activate your new BBB Connect SIM card.
      This may involve calling BBBSO on 010 442 0222 or sending an email to connect@bbb.co.za.
  5. Testing:
    1. Test your new SIM card to ensure that calls, text messages, and data services are working correctly. Make a test call and send a text message to confirm.
  6. Section 5: Additional Considerations
    1. Contact Customer Support:
      You can use your BBB Connect SIM card until your port/transfer is completed.
      After 48 hours, BBB Contact Centre Agent will call you to confirm if the port was successful.

Details
Once you have successfully ported your number to the MVNO, contact your previous mobile service provider to finalize account closure and settle any outstanding balances.
