Picking from Picking Slips and Out of Stock Report
Updated by Dilshaad Daware
Introduction
When the sales order is confirmed and picking slips are printed, an additional Out of Stock report will also be printed simultaneously for each Brand going forward.
Products that are out of stock are not known at the time when the sales order clerks are capturing and confirming orders.
This Out of Stock report, together with the Sales picking slip must match back to the products and quantities on the customers' sales order.
Responsible Team
- Sales order clerks
- Warehouse personnel
Process
- The Out of Stock report must be checked alongside the Sales Picking slip during the picking process.
- Products that are found to be in stock and picked should be clearly marked as follows:
- The QTY Available would exceed the Qty to be Picked value on the Picking Slip, then this product has sufficient stock and the done quantity can be finalised.
- In this instance, the picking slip should be updated with the full Qty pulled against the correct product code.
- If the product is partially available, please note the following:
- It will exist on both reports: i.e. Qty to be picked on the picking slip + Qty needed on the Out of the Stock report = Total Qty Ordered.
- The product on the Out of Stock report should be marked with the letters 'P/S' to indicate that the picking slip has the final quantity for this product.
- If a product is fully out of stock then it will only reflect on the Out of Stock report with the full value in Qty Needed and will not appear on the picking slip.
- If the product is found and picked, the quantity should be marked next to their Product codes on the Out of Stock report with their respective quantities.
- Products on the Out of Stock report that are not found at all should be marked with a 'CR'.
- The Out of stock Report is then checked by the warehouse Manager (i.e. George) for stock on hand status to ensure that the product is definitely out of stock.
- Once picks are finalised and checked, they are then handed back to the sales order clerks for validation of Delivery.
