Create a Vendor Credit Note

Introduction

Once stock has been transferred from the Warehouse to be returned to the supplier, the inventory team needs to issue the supplier credit note.

Responsible Team

Navigate to your Odoo dashboard and click on this application: Purchase

Navigate as follows to get to the correct screen:

Order/Purchase Orders

On the search bar at the top, type in the 'Purchase Order Number', you should now land on a screen that looks like this:

Process

  1. Select the purchase order.
  2. Click on 'Vendor Bills', you should now land on a screen that looks like this:
  3. Click [ADD CREDIT NOTE].
  4. Select and enter the following information:
    1. 'Credit Method' depending on if it's a full or partial return.
    2. 'Reason' for Credit Note.
    3. Select the journal by selecting from the dropdown list in 'Use Specific Journal'
  5. Click [REVERSE].
  6. Click [CONFIRM].
  7. On the 'Print' dropdown select 'Credit Note'.
  8. Select the PDF document that appears in your browser downloads, you should now land on a screen that looks like this:
  9. Once the Vendor Credit Note has been created, the Accounting team will register the payment from the Vendor on Odoo. The Vendor Credit Note PDF document can be attached and sent to the Vendor's email.
